Recent Project: SOUTH WEST WINNER OF LABC BEST INDIVIDUAL NEW HOME

Design and Build Project – Bratton Clovelly

WINNER OF 2016 LABC AWARD FOR BUILDING EXCELLENCE IN THE DELIVERY OF OUTSTANDING CONSTRUCTION AND WORKMANSHIP, COVERING DEVON, CORNWALL, SOMERSET AND DORSET.

Another unique project for Pavilion, to design and build an impressive architect created dwelling.

“Lowen” is an exciting, interesting and individual new build home, situated in the village of Bratton Clovelly, near Okehampton. The single storey contemporary development has been built over three levels and the property is nestled in countryside surroundings with stunning panoramic views of the Tors of North Dartmoor. The new house is a replacement for an existing two- storey property that required demolition and the construction of the new build now compliments its natural setting, with low storey levels, extensive use of natural stone and subtle landscaping.

Built to an extremely high specification and standard the property exceeds current building regulation requirements and is covered by Pavilion’s NHBC insurance backed ten- year warranty. All the fixtures and fittings were carefully chosen by our clients and over the period of the build, they have developed a close working relationship with our sub-contractors, resulting in the construction of a very high quality, stylish home full of innovation. Sustainability has been an important consideration and the new owners have been keen to lower their reliance on national energy and service providers. Fresh water is provided by means of a new borehole system and the build also includes; solar photovoltaics, solar thermal, an air source heat pump and an MVHR heat recovery system, all of which contribute towards providing an energy efficient and low maintenance home.

We researched many of the products and materials required for the project, including the design and build of the outside spaces and external works. Extensive hard landscaping groundworks in the form of curved gabion walls, level terraces, seating areas, patios, ramps, pillars and driveways have all been constructed. Wherever possible we sourced our materials from local suppliers and used local sub-contractors. Our skilled tradesmen have worked with us on previous projects but we required additional contractors on this particular site and everyone has excelled on what has been an exacting and demanding technical build.

The new house and outbuildings are a blend of beautiful design combined with the demands for a modern, energy efficient home. Pavilion have worked hard sourcing cost-effective materials and methods of construction for the scheme. A mix of improving the fabric of the building, use of renewable technologies and compliance with today’s requirements for higher performance target figures for new dwellings, has resulted in a new build house that is both stunning in appearance and provides a comfortable, energy efficient and sustainable home for the new owners.
